NAP - GOOD OR BAD?
What is the "nap" meaning?
Nap is a short sleep during the day time after meals.
All walks of people would like to be a 'nap' for a while after meals especially elderly people, workers and even students.
It is different from sleeping which involves the deeper stage of sleep, where true rest and restoration occurs.
Length of time:
The length of time spent on nap is very important. There are various opinions and studies among researchers about the length of time.
Professor Leon Lack one of the sleep experts stated that : "One minute of sleep seemed to produce no benefit whatsoever ". He continues, "Five minutes of sleep seemed to produce benefits for some people but not very
dramatic ones. However, 10 minutes of sleep seemed to produce significant improvements
in virtually all the measure we had. "
Benefit:
It is reported that dozing longer periods upto 30 minutes may feeling tired for upto an hour afterward.
So, regulations and rules for company workers include 30 minutes for noon meal to get them available five to ten minutes for a beneficial nap. It should boost their productivity and energy for brain balancing for further diligent work.
